Myannnn. So yesterday was one helluva frickin' exhausting day. I had to travel all the way to New Baneshwor for this shooting I had for a short movie. Hold up! I have no intrest in acting/ role play what-so-ever. I was doing this as a favour for a Dai (big brother) of mine.
I was in total awe during the shoot man. It felt like a mini movie making class for me cuss I did manage to learn new things. Geez man. There are a MILLION things to note during the movie making process.
1) Lighting.
A very crucial compoment. Every angle has to be taken care of. You CANNOT have one person so fair and the other like charcoal. You have to ensure the lighting in such a way that no shadow is captured while filming. IT TAKES AGES TO GET THE PERFECT LIGHTING!!!!!
2) Continuity.
If an object is placed in the centre of the table, it MUST remain thr thru out th entire filming. NO one moves it. Pictures are regularly taken so that in case its moved, you know where it ought to be placed.
3) Sound.
Gotta speak loudly. The moment you have unwanted noise (eg : other people talking, restuarant buzzing w loud music, vehicles zooming etc), it gets VERY difficult to get th clarity in the voice.
4) Clipboard.
Rmbr in our younger days, we used to say 'ACTION' and clap our hands. It used to be very fun and entertaining for us but this is NO JOKE in the real deal. Before every shot. there will be a person (Cinematographer) who will say 'Actor mood. Camera. Shot 23, Take 1. ACTION!!' and clap th clipboard. They do this so that when you'r editing th shot later, it is easy to refer back.
5) Shot angles.
Over th shoulder shot re, In shot re. The camera man had to keep moving here and there to get shots at a right angle.
6) NERVES!!!
Oh god.Fxxk nerves. I was so fxxking nervous!!!! I felt so stiff and unnatural. I couldn't be myself. It felt like the few pairs of eyes were just cutting me open. You know when you can just feel it in your bones that you did bad after an exam? Thats exactly how I felt the entire time. I dno why I just felt so uncomfortable/ awkward/ agitated. Verdict- I SUCK AT ACTING!!!!! I hated how I felt yesterday, I am never going to act in my life again. I am referring to ME and I mean NO offence to any crew members of ystd. I am just happy this was a new experience for me. Thanks dai.
So those are the major 6 elements? Dayum after yesterday, I feel like the behind th scenes people during movie making aren't given enuff credit man!! And yes, my respect for all the actors has escalated to new heights!! Its so difficult to act. The only thrill is to watch the movie, but you wouldn't wna see the hard work thats required behind all that. 'Movie hernu matra majja aucha, bananu lastai garo cha.'-
Salute to all th camera men, lighting people, cinematographer, producers, director, script writers, actors!!!!
